Sr. Engineer, Pipeline Safety
Job Location: Houston, TX
Description:
To assure compliance with the Office of Pipeline Safety regulations and to assure that the pipeline is operated in a safe manner. Reviews and interprets pipeline safety codes; coordinates the development, review, and maintenance of the O&M Manual DOT P&P's; the Sr. level coaches and mentors employees on technical development, assignments, and/or projects; reviews and approves written procedures for strength tests/upratings and determines and documents MAOP's, coordinates internal pipeline safety reviews and Federal and State inspections, acting as liaison between federal/state officials and company; conducts population proximity and location analysis utilizing common methodologies to determine class location; completes class location studies to determine appropriate action related to location changes; provides pipeline safety expertise as needed for the creation of programs, systems, etc., coordinates the development and or maintenance of safety reports and manuals; provides specific training related to pipeline safety compliance and assists with mock drills; conducts pipeline safety- related analysis reviews and reports determinations and pipeline incidents to the OPS. This position will be filled at a level commensurate with skills, experience, and qualifications of the candidate.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering desired and at least 5 years of natural gas pipeline industry experience preferred. Knowledge of pipeline operations and pipeline safety regulations preferred. Must have excellent oral and written skills, ability to organize, coordinate and negotiate solutions as well as skills in computer applications are required. Must be able to instruct, analyze, evaluate, and provide technical interpretations while at the same time deal with ambiguity and development and maintain integrity and trust with internal and external customers.
