Description:
This position is responsible WIT field representation, IT customer advocacy, IT customer contact point, and technical services for field voice and data networks across Midstream operations areas. Duties, described in additional detail, are customer advocate and WIT point-of-contact responsibilities, customer relationship management, administering applicable business acumen, and delivering a mix of design, implementation, and maintenance services to field network and control infrastructures. This position represents the field customer to IT, conveying priorities and strategy, and conversely serves as the customer's advocate to IT. This position actively engages daily with the customer at all field levels, creating effective working relationships and guiding remote WIT peers and management through them productively. The position requires significant gas/oil field operations acumen including plant operations in order to be qualified to enhance field operations staffs upon request for turnarounds, upsets, startups, unplanned events, etc. requiring their specific skills. Additionally, the position is responsible for using that acumen to anticipate needs, and advise/guide IT peers/management on delivering effective services.The position works closely with IT engineering/support staffs, Midstream technical teams, and field operations personnel to deliver voice/data networks/SCADA/EFM communications services supporting office, plant, compressor, and wellsite locations. Cisco network configuration (CCNA certification preferred) and TDM network device(s) configurations skills required.
Design and implementation skills required for licensed/unlicensed microwave radio systems, licensed/unlicensed narrowband radio systems, voice radio systems, satellite communications, antenna systems, communications structures (towers and buildings), electrical/generation systems, SCADA DCS/PLC systems, and PLC programming. The position delivers security access system consultation and project management. This position, representing IT, conducts regular in-person, conference call, and electronic communications with field operations teams and management on daily activities, operational status of communications systems, and projects deliverables; then communicates that information formally and informally to his IT peers and management. The position is required to perform scheduled and ordinary maintenance of voice/data infrastructure including performing preventive and corrective maintenance on all aspects of copper, fiber, and wireless systems including digital and analog radios, satellite, RF and Data multiplexers, DACs, channel banks, CSU/DSUs, terminal servers, Nortel phone switches, Cisco switches and routers, patch panels, UPS, AC/DC power systems including solar and fueled generators, cable plants, communications buildings and towers. Secondary support duties include SCADA/DCS/PLC control/acquisition systems troubleshooting and repair. Installs equipment at field locations using hand tools, test equipment, and vehicle following procedures and standards. This position requires electrical skills comparable to "licensed electrician" in order to engineer/construct/maintain electrical powers systems at remote telecom facilities.This position requires strong problem solving skills, the ability to deal well with ambiguity, and make decisions with limited information, and be action oriented. It leads IBM support and supervises construction and onsite break/fix contractor teams. This position is oncall and provides infrequent backup support (travel) to team peers across North American operations areas. Strong formal and impromptu communications skills including customer advocacy, strong problem solving skills, gas/oil field business acumen, strong interpersonal skills and good relationship building , and basic supervisor leadership skills for managing contractors including IBM network support team. Technical proficiency and experience in design, installation, maintenance, and testing of multiple radio platforms, leased circuits, satellite, DACs, Nortel phone systems, fiber, Cisco routers/switches, cable plants, serial networks, WAN/LANs, and electrical systems. A solid working knowledge of IP and Ethernet communications required. Knowledge of EFM, SCADA, and RTUs. Knowledge of NEC electrical area classifications pertinent to oil/gas facilities and electronic intrinsic safety methods. Knowledgeable in RF safety practices. Knowledge of oil/gas wellsite, gathering, compression and separation operations and safe practices.
Associates degree in electronics or equivalent training is required. Bachelor in electrical, electronic, or MIS preferred.Good organizational, interpersonal, fiscal, project management, and personal computing skills including Microsoft Office suite. Ability to self-direct daily activities/priorities and work effectively with remote supervision. Able to perform tasks at elevated heights. Valid driver's license required.
