Description:
This position is responsible for for understanding property accounting policies and procedures and providing guidance on property-related issues within the Williams Exploration & Production (E&P) segment. The position will ensure that property-related accounts are in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Responsibilities include:
Interfacing with the outsourcing vendor to facilitate the timely receipt of relevant information and analyses.
Reviewing E&P-specific property reports to ensure accuracy and timeliness of accounting records including the monthly CAPEX report, open AFE reports, and analysis of DD&A information.
Assisting in the periodic update of Asset Retirement Obligation assumptions/liabilities, working with field personnel and asset teams to ensure a timely and thorough review
Understands the development, implementation and execution of property controls and assists with the review of multiple account reconciliations.
Assists with the monthly closing process including the review and analysis of property related charges.
Serves as a liaison between the property accounting group and E&P functional departments as needed in order to properly resolve accounting issues while providing subject matter expertise for E&P property
Accumulates information necessary to complete SEC filings and assisting with quarterly reviews and the year-end audit.
Works closely with our reserve engineers in order to timely update reserve capacities.
Assists with ad-hoc requests and special projects, as needed.
Requirements:
Bachelors degree in accounting or finance
Five to seven years experience in accounting, preferably in Energy industry.
Prefer property accounting experience.
Must possess excellent analytical abilities
Certified Public Accountant a plus
Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects and properly prioritize such tasks in order to efficiently complete assignments.
Self-starter with the ability to meet defined goals.
Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to interface with all levels of personnel, including the ability to influence and lead various property related initiatives
Strong and effective oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge of various systems including Oracle, MS Office applications.
Powerplant experience a plus
