General Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Practice Manager, functions as part of the management team, performing a variety of clinical and administrative duties related to clinical staff management, patient care assessment, patient education, quality assessment and direct patient care. Provides safe, therapeutic and efficient care and services to patients. Functions as a member of the health care team at an intermediate nursing level to assist in the planning and implementation of patient care based upon sound nursing judgment, clinical preparation, knowledge, skills and experience. Nursing care is provided in accordance with the provisions of the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. May be responsible for one or more practice sites.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The following are essential job accountabilities:

1 Designs processes to maintain a safe environment for patients and employees. Ensures medical equipment and supplies are monitored for safety, expiration dates, etc.. Ensures required documentation of inspections, quality controls, spore testing, temperature recording, etc. are maintained for devices such as: autoclaves, refrigerators, emergency equipment, and other medical equipment used for patient testing and treatment.

2 Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies including OSHA and CLIA. Takes annual inventory of medical supplies and hazardous materials. Ensures environmentally safe practices are in place and records are kept, including Material Safety Data Sheets.

3 Coordinates administration and documentation of TB screening, Hepatitis B and flu injections for staff.

4 Develops clinical policies and procedures; assists in monitoring and evaluation of quality assessment activities, including chart reviews, variance analysis of pathways etc..

5 Attends applicable meetings and competency training sessions. Communicates regularly with staff to ensure pertinent information is exchanged in a timely manner.

6 Follows recommended processes to appropriately manage and document patient concerns and quality of care issues.

7 Identifies opportunities for process improvement and provides leadership in striving to achieve excellence in clinical practice.

8 Performs all responsibilities of the Physician Office Clinician and Physician Office Nurse.

The following are common expectations:
9 Supervises clinical staff by training, allocating and monitoring work. Prepares work schedules of clinical staff;  approves/disapproves scheduled time off. Assists manager with interviewing, hiring, orienting and training of clinical staff. Evaluates performance of designated clinical staff. Coordinates continuing education of clinical staff and assures clinical competencies are met and documented.

10 Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of the assigned patient population. Assesses and interprets patient age specific data and provides appropriate, age specific treatment. Provides direct patient care to assigned patient age group(s).

11 Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.

12 Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards.

13 Maintains professional growth and development.

14 Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.

The following are nonessential job accountabilities for ADA purposes:

15 Maintains the cleanliness of work areas as required.

16 Responsible for the care and maintenance of department/entity equipment and supplies.

17 Ensures an adequate stock of supplies and proper functioning of equipment.

18 Enters or retrieves data from established computer files.

19 Attends meetings as required.

Performs other related duties as identified.

Qualifications:
Note: Other combinations of formal education, training and experience may be considered.

Minimum Education Certificate of completion (degree or diploma) from an accredited LPN program
Minimum Experience 3 - 5 years of previous clinical nursing experience; previous office and supervisory experience preferred
Min Field Of Expertise Highly experienced Licensed Practical Nurse
Req Cert/Registration Licensed practical nurse; BCLS certification.
Req Course(s)/Training Nursing or equivalent. Requires good clinical knowledge base, knowing when and how to obtain necessary or additional clinical knowledge.
Physical Demands Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking
Occasionally lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients
Occasionally lifts supplies/equipment
Occasional reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching

Working Conditions
May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases
May be exposed to the risk of bloodborne diseases
May be exposed to/occasionally exposed to patient elements
Handles emergency or crisis situations
Subject to many interruptions
Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries
Occasionally subjected to irregular hours
