Applies basic and some advanced technical skills and knowledge in overhaul and repair of parts, components and complete subsystems for operational aircraft applications. Performs any of the detailed work operations required to be completed in these areas. Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:
Performs disassembly, overhaul and repair of parts, components and subsystems for in-service aircraft applications of products and processes that are varied but generally not complex requiring some skill and experience.
Reads and interprets manufacturers' and airline's maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
Reads and interprets plans, blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine sequence and methods of removal, repair, replacement and installation of parts and components of mechanical aircraft subsystems.
Disassembles and inspects parts for wear, warping, or other defects. Repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft operational mechanical systems, components and structures including rigging, plumbing and electrical wiring harnesses. Adjusts, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories.
Lays out and marks dimensions and reference lines on material to develop or back drill hole patterns for access doors, installation or replacement of sheetmetal parts or other like applications. Trims to fit, files, grinds, deburrs, buffs, and smoothes surfaces.
Bolts, rivets, screws, clips, seals, or bonds component parts to assemble products. Installs assemblies in supportive framework according to work instructions. Inspects assemblies and installation for conformance to specifications. Ancillary Functions and Responsibilities:
Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications and departments other than the primary assignment.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: REPAIR ASSEMBLER Formal Education, Training and Work Experience: Experience may be substituted for the formal education and training requirements in this section at the discretion of management. High School graduate with preference given to candidates with technical school related to aircraft or manufacturing processes. A minimum of two (2) years of experience as an aero-structure mechanic, bonder, or evaluator, or equivalent combination of education and experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment is preferred but not required. Level of Supervision Required: The level of supervision required described here is representative of that which must be met by a Stakeholder to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Works with regular supervision. Follows standard written or oral instructions. May need additional assistance for more complex tasks. Priorities are determined by management.
Special Job Requirements, Skills, Tools and Equipment: Demonstrate competency in applying the following in performing normal job duties. Read and interpret manufacturers specifications and overhaul manuals. Read and comprehend engineering drawings and technical work instructions, technical manuals issued by OEMs and customers. Develop and fabricate shop aids to perform specialized operations. Demonstrate competency in the use of standard assembler and mechanics hand tools, such as drill motors, rivet guns, bucking bars, die grinders, rivet squeeze, layout scales, scribes, center punches, templates, precision measuring instruments, voltmeters, ohmmeters and other like tools, cranes, hoists, work platforms, tooling jigs and fixtures. Special Training and Behavioral Competencies: Safety training applicable to the job and the general work area. Complete the required NORDAM University training for all Stakeholders. Comply with The NORDAM Group Leadership Competencies for Stakeholders. Ability and willingness to assist and transfer technical knowledge to less experienced Stakeholders. Overtime is a requirement of the job and the ability to work in excess of eight hours per day and five days per week is required. While performing the duties of this job, the Stakeholder is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration.
