   Summary Statement:

Applies advanced technical skills and knowledge to perform receiving, in-process and final inspections of aircraft components, parts and component operating systems to ensure the products meet company, customer and Federal Aviation Administration specifications and standards.

Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:

Performs in-process and final inspection and functional testing tasks that are moderate to complex requiring experience and judgment to complete. Works under limited supervision and determines plans and actions from standard procedural alternatives.

Inspects parts and materials for conformity to standards, specifications and processing requirements. Inspects for proper identity and dimensions using such measuring devices as micrometers, gauges, calipers and Jo-blocks. Verifies specifications using purchase orders, blueprints, drawing or inspection instructions and checklists.

Performs in-process and final inspection and functional test operations of aerospace components and otherwise tests and inspects products, processes, parts and operating systems to ensure the end item meets or exceeds specifications.

Examines assembly, installation, and adjustment of the parts and components of aircraft interior components and the interior component operating systems to ensure that workmanship and materials conform to FAA regulations, company specifications, and manual procedures.

Determines dimensional accuracy of installation of components using non-precision and precision measuring instruments to ensure that specified tolerances are met. Signs inspection records to approve unit, or records reasons for rejecting unit.

Accepts or rejects or reworks defective or malfunctioning units, subsystems or completed systems. Maintains inspection records to meet company, customer or FAA requirements.

Ancillary Job Functions and Responsibilities:

Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications other than the primary assignment.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Formal Education, Training and Work Experience:
Experience may be substituted for the formal education and training requirements in this section at the discretion of management. High school diploma or equivalent and four (4) or more years of inspection experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment directly related to the discipline where the inspection assignments will occur. Experience equivalent to that of an aerospace manufacturing position may be substituted for direct inspection experience, if that experience is directly related to the discipline where the inspection assignments will occur.

Level of Supervision Required:
The level of supervision required described here are representative of those that must be met by a Stakeholder to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Works under general supervision. Work is reviewed for completion to quality standards and schedule requirements. May adapt techniques and tools to meet special needs with approval from management.

Special Skills, Licenses or Job Requirements:
Demonstrate competency in applying the following in performing normal job duties.
Working knowledge of AS9100 and ISO9001 Quality Systems.
Ability to communicate both written and orally with departmental and production supervision.
Works with departmental and production supervision on schedule, departmental job assignments and prioritizing workload.
Ability to perform all inspection functions within the department with minimal supervision.
Experience and ability to work with both metric and standard measuring systems using both non-precision and precision measuring tools.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft programs (Work, Excel and Access)
Read, write and speak English to read and interpret manufacturers specifications and manuals.
A good understanding of composite materials, wood veneers, laminates and finishes.
Ability to understand first angle projection drawings.

Special Training and Behavioral Competencies:
Safety training as required by OSHA.
Vision and Audio Test per 14 CFR Part 145.155 (and C.A.S.E. 1-A Standard Section 5.E.2.C.)
Complete the required NORDAM University training for all Stakeholders.
Comply with The NORDAM Group Leadership Competencies for Stakeholders.
Ability and willingness to assist and transfer technical knowledge to less experienced Stakeholders.

Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Stakeholder to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the Stakeholder is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The Stakeholder frequently is required to stand, walk, and talk and hear. The Stakeholder is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The Stakeholder must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include 20/20 vision in one eye, corrected, and close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to ascend and descend stairs. Overtime is a requirement of the job. Must be able to work in excess of eight hours per day and five days per week.

While performing the duties of this job, the Stakeholder is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The Stakeholder is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
