Supervises and coordinates activities of assigned personnel. Implements and administers policies and procedures as delegated by management. Develops and provides leadership to institutionalize the processes of Continuous Improvement in accordance with organization goals and objectives. Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities: Works within established organizational objectives. Accomplishes results by performing the works of subordinates and through subordinate nonexempt staff. Performs typical responsibilities of management requiring planning, evaluating, organizing, integrating, and coaching. Work is reviewed for adequacy in meeting cost, schedule and quality objectives.
Schedules, directs, and coordinates activities in the tooling area in order to minimize delays and increase production efficiency. Makes job assignments, assists with technical problems.
Directs, trains and assists subordinate shop Stakeholders in the proper procedures, methods, and practices to be followed in each of their respective duties.
Proficient in blueprint reading and capable of working from Structural Repair Manuals (SRM), ESOs, and any other technical data, whether generated internally or externally.
Records and maintains activities pertaining to the repair and/or manufacture of parts and/or assembles, i.e., work orders, etc.
Ensures integrity of quality workmanship and that all work is at an acceptance level per internal specifications and processes.
Maintains cost effectiveness and works within the established guidelines given by supervisor or other management personnel. Ancillary Functions and Responsibilities: Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications other than the primary assignment.
Provides guidance to teams on development, performance and productivity issues.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: LEAD TOOLMAKER Formal Education, Training and Work Experience: Experience may be substituted for the formal education and training requirements in this section at the discretion of management. High School graduate with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in performing the type of work in the discipline of the work group where they will perform the duties of a Lead. The experience requirements may be met through directly related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates for this position must be proficient in the processes and procedures for the area over which supervision is exercised. Additionally, to qualify for this position a candidate also must have one (1) year of the required five (5) years experience in training, assigning and reviewing the work of lesser skilled stakeholders or have formal leadership assignments from another organization. Level of Supervision Required: The level of supervision required described here is representative of that which must be met by a Stakeholder to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Works independently and sets own priorities and objectives after consultation with management. May independently adapt techniques and tools to meet special needs. Obtains management approval as directed. Special Skills, Licenses or Job Requirements: Demonstrate competency in applying the following to perform normal job duties. Must have a proficient knowledge of close tolerance measuring tools such as scales, micrometer, calipers, depth gages, height gages, and optical tooling instruments. Must be proficient in reading and interpreting aircraft blueprints, working from mylars and performing shop math. Experience with gas welding and/or heli-arc welding preferred, but not required. Special Training and Behavioral Competencies: Safety training as required by OSHA. Complete the required NORDAM University training for all Stakeholders. Comply with The NORDAM Group Leadership Competencies for Stakeholders. Ability and willingness to assist and transfer technical knowledge to less experienced Stakeholders. Must be able to work in excess of eight hours per day and five days per week.
