Summary Statement:
Applies expert and specialized knowledge to contribute to the development of new techniques and concepts related to the architecture, design, and implementation of data warehouse and business intelligence solutions addressing business needs across financial, supply chain, CRM, and manufacturing operational areas. Recognized as the resident expert in the data warehouse discipline within the Company. Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities: Develops design and analytical solutions to complex or unusual problems or assignments requiring considerable ingenuity and innovation to perform data modeling, data warehousing, and business intelligence to increase the effectiveness of the access to relevant information and to raise the skill level of team members. Monitors voice and data communication system performance to assure dependable and uninterrupted operation of communications.
Works collaboratively with the business community and Information Technology colleagues to define an enterprise data model and data warehousing architecture supporting multiple subject areas.
Develops strong relationships with both the business community and the Information Technology organization and deep understanding of current business processes and industry best practices.
Defines the data strategy for the enterprise linking OLTP, data warehouse, business intelligence, and Defines the technical architecture for the data warehouse environment, leads the technology selection, and effectively manages vendor relationships.
Performs data analysis and data modeling. Implements logical and physical structures for a high performance and high availability warehouse environment. Tunes and supports the data warehouse database.
Designs, develops, and implements ETL procedures to populate/update data warehouses and ensures their validity.
Assures integrity, availability, and recovery of data warehouse information.
Provides strategic thinking and leadership pertaining to new ways of leveraging information to improve business processes. Must be strong in leading business leaders through strategic thinking processes and change. Strong influencing and change management skills are critical to success.
Ancillary Job Functions and Responsibilities:
This position may provide administrative and technical leadership over other Stakeholders in the department.
Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications other than the primary assignment.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: DATA WAREHOUSE ARCHITECT SPECIALIST
Formal Education, Training, Professional Certification and Work Experience: Experience may be substituted for the formal education and training requirements in this section at the discretion of management. Bachelors level degree in Business or other appropriate discipline and Ten (10) or more years of directly related experience. Experience in manufacturing, maintenance and repair operations, and the aerospace industry is preferred. Solid experience (2+ years) as a Data Warehouse Architect / technical lead in a production data warehousing environment and five (5) years experience in data modeling and database administration. Extensive background in Oracle database systems. Experience and strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server database systems is desired. Level of Supervision Required: The level of supervision required described here is representative of that which must be met by a Stakeholder to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Works under limited direction. Guidance as to objectives, critical issues and policy. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and methods.
Communication and Special Skills:
Experience working with multi divisional business communities and executives to assess current business processes against industry best practices. Experience leading business communities through strategic thinking pertaining to the utilization of information to improve business effectiveness and efficiency. Communicate effectively using electronic media and in written and verbal forms. Make telephone and direct personal contact with internal and external personnel. Make formal presentations to small or large groups. Effectively use of standard software applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel. Strong collaboration and team building skills. Strong technical background in data management including ER modeling, Dimensional modeling, solid relational database experience in both OLTP and warehousing environments.
