The following position is contingent upon contract award. COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK SPECIALIST
This person provides network expertise to our company and its customers in a Network Operations Center (NOC) environment. This position will provide skills to troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues and also will be expected to design IT solutions for our customers. A thorough understanding of LAN/WAN integration, TCP/IP, switching and routing is essential. The Communications Specialist will also be expected to provide experience in deploying desktops, servers, cabling, switches, bridges and routers.
Responsibilities:
Provide advanced support and maintenance for enterprise wide Network Research and evaluate innovative solutions and alternatives Analyze business needs and designs, installs and supports network solutions on one or multiple platforms and protocol suites in a LAN, WAN, MAN or Wireless architecture Utilizes expertise in creating network and enterprise-wide solutions and generally focuses on server and workstation-based solutions Responsible for evaluating network architecture and hardware/software configurations for security vulnerabilities and creating secure systems Monitoring intranet, extranet, and internet systems for security threats Installs and maintains LAN/WAN/MAN hardware and software technologies Configures and installs routers and switches in accordance with company standards Maintains smooth operation of local area, wide area and virtual private networks (VPN) supporting our customers in solving mission critical technology challenges of national significance Provide remediation and resolution to escalated network issues Troubleshoots network usage and peripheral issues, resolve connectivity issues and maintains data and telecommunication connections Responsible for the day-to-day operations and management of the DHS OneNet WAN, DHS Communications/Core Network (DCN) and CBP Networks (WAN, LAN, MAN, Ensures optimal, error free Communications through the Network Establishes and maintains network performance by building network configurations and connections; and troubleshooting network problems
Bachelors degree required 5 years experience required 5 years full time experience in the design, development, integration, implementation and /or maintenance of multi-protocol local and/ or wide area networks, and telecommunications system required Advance level of technical expertise in providing campus type network system design required Bluecoat or Symantec Gateway experience required Experience in Routing Protocols such as BGP, EIGRP, OSPF required CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) preferred MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer) preferred Experience with DHS preferred
Clearance Required: Ability to obtain and maintain US Customs and Border Protection Clearance and up to a Top Secret is a MUST. Location: This position is available in the Springfield, VA area.
