Responsibilities: This position will be responsible and accountable for effectively overseeing horizontal drilling operations in the Williston Basin that includes well planning and design, casing design, perfecting mud programs, rig scheduling, daily rig/performance monitoring and optimization, data assemblage and analyses, cost containment, and working in a multi-disciplined team environment.
Daily duties include daily rig calls and monitoring to closely track horizontal drilling performance, assisting with well pad layout and well placement for multi-well pads, perfecting drilling procedures that includes the directional/ horizontal well plan, drill string and casing design, mud and cement program, bit and motor program, torque and drag analysis (pre and post-drill) for each well, drilling/completion AFE creation, and working closely with Completions, Permitting/Regulatory, and Geology as needed for multi-disciplined team approach to ensure effective, timely operations. The candidate must also have good communication skills, be self-driven with a strong work ethic, be able to perform at a high level with minimal supervision, be flexible to change, willing to work in a fast paced environment, and be a team player. Other duties will be to support management with monthly summary of performance and cost data and assisting with quarterly presentations as needed.
Qualifications: The candidate will be reporting to the Drilling Manager, must have a BS in Petroleum Engineering, and should have 10+ years experience in drilling operations with 5+ years experience in horizontal drilling preferred.
