Responsibilities: THIS POSITION WILL BE FILLED AT A LEVEL COMMENSURATE WITH EXPERIENCE.
Perform environmental activities necessary to obtain required federal, state, and local environmental permits and assist with compliance during and after construction. This will include interaction and maintenance of positive relationships with the regulatory agencies overseeing the natural gas pipeline business. Primary duties will include conducting environmental field surveys for wetlands and listed species, preparing and submitting permit applications associated with pipeline activities, coordinating approvals with various regulatory agencies, assisting with construction compliance and managing the completion of post construction permit requirements. The position also requires managing contractors and project budgets. These activities will be required for both pipeline expansion and operations and maintenance activities for existing pipeline facilities. Travel up to approximately 25% will be required.
Work in a team environmental role, assisting and coordinating with other team members on interpretation of applicable rules and assuring compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations. Participation in project site trips, design meetings, and agency meetings will be required, as well as capability to monitor project schedules, implementation and budgets.
Qualifications: Should possess a BS/BA in environmental science, or related natural resource field or an Engineering degree with equivalent experience and knowledge in pipeline construction and environmental matters. The candidate must possess a minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience permitting linear projects requiring FERC and NEPA environmental documents with permits issued by USCOE, USFWS, SHPO, EPA, NOAA fisheries and other federal and state regulatory agencies; or an acceptable combination of experience and advanced degree. Computer competency with applications such as Oracle, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel is necessary.
The candidate will possess skills in environmental project management and leadership in small to medium projects. It is important to be able to work independently with minimal supervision, and manage and complete multiple technical tasks. Excellent oral and written communication skills are necessary for internal coordination and to develop and maintain cooperative relationships with regulatory agencies.
