Responsibilities:
Candidate will report to the Drilling Manager of the Williston Basin & must be able to effectively lay out lateral well plans while being cognizant of area structure and topography. The plan must be communicated to the survey company to produce a plat for well permitting. Candidate must also be able to generate a well prognosis which outlines the basic drilling and target parameters, and coordinate with Geology & Geophysical group to establish the correct drilling target for the well prognosis. Candidate is also responsible for coordinating with the survey and directional companies to verify the accuracy of the SHL, well plan, and BHL to finalize the surveyed plat.
Candidate will also determine key offset logs and make required cross-sections for critical correlation work. Candidate will also closely monitor and correlate key formation tops (via Gamma logging) as the curve is drilled to ensure landing in target zone, and also closely monitor/geosteer lateral drilling to ensure staying in zone making subtle inclination adjustments (via communication with G&G group and directional company) as geology dictates. After the well is landed in the target zone, candidate must report key landing point parameters and determine if any inclination change is necessary to well plan. The above will be accomplished by loading gamma log and survey data into the Paradigm Geosteering software. The candidate will be responsible for using the Geosteering software to monitor the position of the well in the target zone, generating two/day well model updates. Upon completion of drilling, candidate will provide a final Geosteering model showing actual well path relative to planned well path to key team members.  Planned well path to key team members, and ensure directional well data is fully integrated into the Petra/3D data base so key structural surfaces are continuously updated.


Qualifications:
Sufficient Geologic experience to accurately review basic electric logs and correlate with offset logs. Have strong computer and math skills, a basic knowledge of 3D structure and isopach mapping and concepts, and be familiar with Petra and SMT. Previous experience with geosteering horizontal wells is highly desired. Good communication skills, ability to work with a variety of technical groups, and being a team player is a must. Must also be self-motivated and able to work effectively, accurately with minimal guidance. 

Degree Requirements:    
BS in Geology or Engineering is a minimum requirement along with 5+ years Oil and Gas experience.


Education Level: Bachelor's Level Degree

Relocation Information: Williams Corporation will not pay relocation costs for this position.

Travel Percentage: Less than 25 %

Fair Labor Standards Act: FLSA exempt no overtime pay is due.
