Responsibilities: Operations geoscientist for Williston Basin Asset Team will guide development within a geographical area and assist with periodic evaluation of geologic vendor services.
Responsibilities Work with geoscience team and multiple other departments on rig scheduling. Optimize drilling plans for geologic factors, while taking into account land, regulatory, and permitting constraints. Provide information as needed to other departments, including exhibits and testimony for spacing applications. Correlate relevant tops, pick targets for geologic prognoses, provide data to geophysicist for geophysical interpretations and prognoses. Communicate regularly with drilling and geosteering departments during well planning and drilling. Track rig activity daily by reading daily reports, following logging data online where available, and communicating with mudloggers/well-site geologists and drilling/geosteering. Travel to field. Review actual well path with completions and reservoir engineers, where appropriate.
Assist in review of non-operated AFEs in geographical area, and follow non-operated activity. Become familiar with other operator activity adjacent to area. Contribute area-specific knowledge to geoscience team evaluations of leasing, acquisitions, and divestitures. Provide information to reservoir engineering team for budget and reserves purposes, as needed.
Collaborate with other geoscientists and Exploration department to incorporate and contribute to regional structural and stratigraphic interpretations. Study and map other relevant measurable and calculable geologic parameters, as appropriate. Participate in design and execution of scientific data acquisition pilots, as needed. Help evaluate performance/cost of geologic vendors, including but not limited to logging/LWD vendors, mudloggers, well-site geologists, and specialty work. Keep manager and other team members informed of activity.
Qualifications: Petra experience, SMT experience a plus 7+ years of experience as an oil and gas industry geoscientist, 3+ years as an operations/development geoscientist Excellent phone/email/in-person communication skills across disciplines, willingness to share information and work collaboratively Knowledge/experience in one of the following areas a plus: Bakken/Williston Basin, advanced Petra, facies mapping, log analysis, horizontal wells/geosteering, geophysics, core planning, programming
Position will be filled at a level commensurate with experience.
