Responsibilities: This position provides support for field operations and is focused on positively shaping our safety culture and practices, creating an atmosphere that encourages employee accountability and involvement in safety and partnering with the employees and management of E&P to achieve safety excellence.
Successful candidate will report to the Safety Specialist Team Leader.
Essential Job Functions: Will provide technical safety services, conduct and coordinate the employee health and safety programs in assigned areas of responsibility including compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations. This position shares accountability with area management for the effective implementation and performance of safety and compliance initiatives, and will also participate in the development of new programs.
Responsibilities will include:
- Provide technical safety services for E&P operations in geographical area of responsibility including compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations. - Developing and presenting safety training, participating in safety committee meetings and contractor meetings. - Routinely identify and document best practices, lessons learned, and E&PWAY alerts at assigned location for application at other locations. - Actively participate in regulatory agency inspections and audits, compliance audits, facility inspections, emergency response drills and critiques, incident investigations, hazard assessments and change requests / PHA. - Conduct company and contractor safety audits/reviews and inspections in accordance with Company safety programs and OSHA rules/guidelines. - Continually evaluate accident statistics to determine the effectiveness of existing policies and programs and recommend ways to enhance the company's safety performance. - Develop solutions using a mixture of technical analysis, innovation, risk management, experience and judgment. Routinely conduct research to identify solutions beyond the status quo. - Develop, implement, and track progress on area Compliance Schedules - Anticipate the needs when a project is in the conceptual stages. - Facilitate a culture of safety through positive methodologies. - Liaison for E&PWAY in assigned areas.
Qualifications: Requires education and experience typically achieved with a Bachelor degree in engineering, safety, or a related discipline and a minimum of 5 years of related industry experience. An equivalent combination of education/experience may be considered. Position will be filled at a level commensurate with education/experience.
Professional certification (CSP, ASP) is preferred. Significant emergency response experience including Incident Command a plus. Must have a working knowledge of OSHA standards and their application to the design, construction, and operations of E&P facilities. Demonstrated ability in establishing positive working relationships, effective presentation and facilitation skills; collaborative decision-making and conflict resolution skills, ability to adjust and adapt to changing situations.
