Responsibilities: This position is with the Corporate Financial Reporting team and is responsible for providing expertise and leadership in preparing and/or reviewing financial information, primarily for external reporting. Job may include providing functional advice or training to less experienced accountants. Handles a diverse range of complex assignments requiring the use of experience, innovation and judgment. Plans and conducts work requiring independent evaluation and assumes responsibility for contribution to the success of a project. Assist with accounting research related projects, particularly involving new accounting guidance. Exercises substantial latitude for un-reviewed decisions. Functions as a lead and mentors others.
Primary duties will include but are not limited to:
- Accumulates and prepares information necessary to complete SEC filings, financial statements and related disclosures. - Reviews consolidated financial statements and related disclosures and proposes adjusting entries or other changes to ensure financial statements and disclosures are complete, correct and in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), SEC regulations, and other applicable requirements. - Identifies and recommends resolutions to issues which impact the accuracy and completeness of accounting data and financial statements within a general area of responsibility. - Analyzes business transactions of moderate complexity and identifies appropriate accounting and reporting treatment. - Establishes and maintains relationships with individuals and/or other departments, as needed, to resolve accounting and reporting issues and questions. - Monitor emerging accounting and reporting standards to keep abreast of the timing of potential new guidance. - Assist in the implementation of new accounting and reporting standards, particularly by working with the business units to insure a smooth transition throughout the transition and consolidation process. - Research and recommend solutions on technical accounting and reporting issues and determine impact to Williams. - Assists in the coordination of audit requirements with external auditors - Communicates and consults with internal and external customers and/or contacts.
Qualifications: - Bachelors degree with major in accounting and CPA is required. - 6-8 years experience in public accounting or a combination of public accounting and industry experience preferably including accounting research. - Strong analytical skills and financial accounting skills, including consolidations; - Experience with preparing and reviewing quarterly and annual SEC reports and other SEC filings; - Self-starter with proven ability to establish and meet goals and objectives - Ability to work under pressure of deadlines, including periodic overtime - Strong problem-solving, organizational, and teamwork skills; - Strong written and verbal skills to effectively communicate with customers and stakeholders;

Relocation Information: Williams Corporation will not pay relocation costs for this position.
Travel Percentage: Less than 25 %
