1) As a specialized healthcare agency, the pool of nurses and social workers with the experience and credentials we need is very small. This is one of the main reasons we choose to post on NationJob. When we advertise for RN's or SW's in our local newspaper, we may receive one or two applications, if we're lucky. We have used other advertising sources (Nurse Week magazine, National Association of Social Workers website, etc.) with zero results.
2) In 2001, hired three RN's that found us through NationJob. That is an amazing statistic. One of the RN's even had hospice experience (our specialty). In 2002 we were in need of social workers. The shortage of SW's nationwide is just as bad - or worse - as the nursing shortage. The SW pool is very limited for our agency as our regulations require that the credential be in "Social Work". When we posted the SW listing on NationJob, 30 responses were received -- 15 of those did not have the required credential. (It seems as though many applicants thought they would "try anyway" even though the listing clearly stated the necessary credential requirements. However, it is through NationJob that we were finally able to hire two social workers. (one MSW and one BSW).
3) All the employees that came to us through NationJob in 2001 and 2002 are still with us. They are excellent employees.
In summary, Hospice of Havasu uses NationJob with great success. It offers much value for our advertising dollar. We joined PED in order to continue our relationship with NationJob. Please continue the program.
