Big Lakes Developmental Center, Inc. established in 1973, is a private, nonprofit-organization providing programs, supports and services for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities. These services and supports are provided throughout our catchment area to include Riley, Clay, Geary and Pottawatomie counties in Kansas. Excellent employment opportunities exist at Big Lakes for individuals interested in human services and making a difference in the community and in the lives of adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
Direct Support Professionals are responsible for providing supports and services to adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities in the areas of home, work, social, leisure and daily living activities. Duties include providing/assisting with personal hygiene support, transportation, supervision and training, record keeping and light household cleaning. We provide comprehensive initial and ongoing training and development for our employees so the best quality services are provided to our clients to achieve our mission of promoting independence, productivity, integration and inclusion into the community for the adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities we support.
Specific titles for Direct Support Professionals include, but are not limited to, Life Enrichment Trainer, Work Supervisor, Work Enrichment Trainer and Driver (providing support in Day Services program) as well as Residential Advisor and Residential Advisor III (providing support within a residential setting). Substitute positions in Day and Residential Services. (*Some Residential Advisor positions may require overnight stay and may be eligible for sleep stipend.)
