This employer is looking for a staff electrical designer to join our growing Houston team in the Oil, Gas, & Chemical division. As a staff electrical designer, you can apply your Computer Aided Design (CAD) skills to learn industrial electrical construction.
Uses 2D and 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) software for the creation, modification, analysis, or optimization of construction packages for EPC projects. May begin designing in the front-end planning stages and take project through completion, including answering questions from the field regarding installation details. Execute the electrical design within budget by tracking labor hours and material quantities. Works with Engineers, Designers, Clients, Contractors, and Vendors to establish solutions. Coordinate workload with Electrical Engineers or Designers and be responsible for all electrical work products. Consult with Senior Electrical Engineers and Designers for leadership and mentoring.
Learns software packages, electrical basics, electrical industrial design, CAD standards, and leadership skills as required for projects very efficiently.
Design 15kV, 5kV, 480V and below voltage systems, one lines, motor schematics, plans and elevations, installation details, drawing lists, cable sizing, and other basic electrical calculations. Develop industrial construction and field experience. Talk with vendors to specify dry-type transformers, panelboards, and other small power equipment and material.
This position will be accountable for meeting schedule and budget and making trips to job sites to survey existing electrical conditions (travel about 15%). Regularly meet and correspond with Clients and vendors. Interact daily with other discipline engineers and supervisors. QUALIFICATIONS
- Proficient in Autodesk AutoCAD and AutoCAD Raster
- Familiarity with Bentley MicroStation v7 & v8i
- Experience with Intergraph Plant Design Management (PDS/PDMS 3D)
- Experience with Smart Plant 3D and Smart Sketch
- Preferred experience with LMF Laser Scanning Technology
- Familiarity with Visual Lighting
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products
- Familiarity with Blue Beam, Google Earth, and Adobe PDF
University - Associate`s Degree/Graduate Diploma/2 Years
