SUMMARY:

Jump-start your career in Salem, MO, and expand your professional portfolio. As the Cost Accountant, you will be responsible for preparing special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting
  • 5+ years of manufacturing accounting experience
  • CPA or CPA in-process (preferred)
  • Standard costing experience (preferred)
  • Inventory costing, valuation and control experience
  • Experience in a growing, acquisitive company (preferred)
  • Robust experience with the general ledger
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV (Navision), GP (Great Plains), or another ERP platform (preferred)
  • Ability to work effectively with departments/production facilities/associates across the company
  • Proactive mindset that seeks continuous process improvement
  • Ability to work overtime as needed
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel (e.g., data manipulation, pivot tables, vlookups, etc.)
  • Ability to multi-task, balance multiple priorities, meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, oral and written

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Control inventory
  • Prepare plant spending budget and forecast
  • Recommend financial actions by analyzing accounting options
  • Prepare month-end close journal entry
  • Analyze plant absorption and spending variance
  • Substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents
  • Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures
  • Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information
  • Maintain financial security by following internal controls
  • Answer accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations
  • Prepare special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends
  • Comply with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions
  • Protect operations by keeping financial information confidential
