Prestigious Pittsburgh organization has an immediate need for an Senior Accountant. This position will focus on a private investment portfolio, completing quarterly valuations, issuing detailed profile reporting, and tracking commitments. Additionally, the Investment Accountant will drive the monthly internal investment reporting process for the entire portfolio and have a strong understanding of the more complex aspects of the accounting system and external interfaces JOB DESCRIPTION
Completes quarterly valuations for the Private Investment portfolio. Manages the inflow of financial information from managers, reconciles computed value to managers capital account statements, and posts accounting entries in ledger.
Reviews and reconciles private investment commitments and proposes adjustments as needed for recallable distributions, write-offs, refunds, allocation adjustments
Records stock distributions and subsequent stock sale activity. Completes monthly valuations for any unsold stock.
Drives monthly internal investment reporting process. Reviews monthly valuation entries reconciles investment activity (cost, value, realized and unrealized gain/loss) to general ledger, and produces timely internal flash and relationship exposure reports for management review.
Maintains detailed financial information in the accounting system related to the Private Investment portfolio. Reviews and produces quarterly private equity partnership profile reports for management.
Updates and maintains accounting system for new investments based on Investment Committee approvals.
Serves as back-up for processing investment capital calls and distributions.
Updates monthly cash forecast for management use.
Supports annual independent audit function by serving as day-to-day contact for auditors. Prepares all supporting schedules and drafts GAAP financial statements for Controllers review. QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree in Accounting required
CPA strongly preferred
2+ years in an accounting or auditing, preferably at a local or regional CPA firm.
Investment accounting experience a plus.
Knowledge of professional practice in financial accounting and reporting, internal controls and external reporting.
Demonstrates ability to problem solve and gather/analyze information skillfully and efficiently.
Detail oriented, well organized, and strong communication skills.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot and v-lookup functionality. Ability to analyze large data sets and identify patterns and gaps within the data.
Ability to read, interpret, and analyze GAAP and IFRS financial statements.
University - Bachelor`s Degree/3-4 Year Degree
