JOB DESCRIPTION

This position is accountable for meeting defined revenue objectives, as well as developing a strong understanding of the company`s product mix and subsequent value proposition for key products targeted into the territorys life science market. The BD Manager leverages product knowledge to develop, grow, and maintain relationships with customers in all product market segments, balancing an optimized combination of sales channels. A key deliverable for this position is to drive discussions regarding ideas, opportunities, and best methods for achieving success in a dynamic marketplace. In addition, the position is accountable for building strategic relationships with customers in order to sell new technology platforms, as well as high-value current platforms, including molecular diagnostics, genomics, drug dscovery and bioprocessing.


*Identify and pursue opportunities for new business, collaborations, and licensing
*Develop, coordinate, and implement business development plans to meet company growth objectives.
*Qualify and close new and sustainable business, allowing the company to meet or exceed its revenue, product, and new customer targets.
*Contribute to the coordination and management of assigned territory channels to market (direct sales, distributors, etc.) through sales plans that fit within global sales plans.
*Effectively interact with customers and partners, including participating in trade and vendor shows, face-to-face visits, training, negotiation of agreements, integration of products into company procurement systems, management of call for tenders, etc.
*Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with departments across the organization.
*Research and analyze target markets to develop strategic and tactical plans to grow the business.
*Evaluate the benefits and risks of potential partnerships.
*Partner with Marketing and Product Management to develop and implement sales and business development strategies around existing and future product sales.
*Maintain good working relationships with customers to enhance customer retention and generate new sales through referrals and references.
*Attend conferences, seminars, and meetings and give presentations to current and potential clients.
*Monitor, track, and report on competitive intelligence and market trends and outlook.
*Develop and coordinate new business ideas and product developments which complement the overriding strategic plan.
*Develop successful relationships with key customers to ensure adoption of focus products.
*Design and implement effective customer advocacy programs to drive product and company awareness.
*Work as the project manager or as part of a global, cross-functional team to define and deliver new products, marketing campaigns, and opportunity assessments.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

*Bachelors or Masters Degree in a life sciences related field with at least 7 years of relevant experience; Ph.D. (preferred) in a life sciences related field with 5+ years of relevant experience.

Experience:

*At least 5-7 years of business development, collaboration management, or other commercial experience. *Experience in life science technology development and/or the clinical diagnostic industry a plus.

*Really need to come out of a company that has similar customers, so they will know who the players are. Their customers are in the Life Sciences arena, laboratories that do testing.

Skills:

*Strong understanding of the life science market and technologies, including strong technical skills in the areas of genomics, immunoassays, molecular diagnostics, and/or drug discovery.

*Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

*Strong negotiation skills.

*Proven relationship builder capable of developing and maintaining customer relationships. Proven ability to identify and implement key business development objectives

Education:
University - Bachelor`s Degree/3-4 Year Degree
