About Us
ORNL Federal Credit Union was chartered on August 6, 1948 to serve the employees of Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Each of our ten founding members put up $5.00 to create an initial deposit base of $50.00.
Founding members were: R.H. Beidel, H.C. Maggart, E.C. Cunningham, G.W. Tyler, M.V. Firmin, F.C. Von der Lage, K.A. Fowler, L.N. Williams, M.R. Hill, and W.N. Woodward, Jr.
Today, ORNL FCU members account for over one billion dollars in assets. This community credit union provides service to businesses and anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in the 16 counties of Central East Tennessee. Our members live and work primarily in the Greater Knoxville area, however we have members living in each of the 50 states as well as dozens of countries around the world.
