Multiple openings currently for “Associate Director, Platform Engineering”, with Arrowstreet Capital, Limited Partnership (“Arrowstreet” or “ASC”), headquartered at 200 Clarendon Street, 30th Floor, Boston, MA 02116.
Telecommuting benefit (i.e., work from home) available. In information technology (“IT”) roles like this, resources must be onsite, working at the above-named employer address and headquarters location, at least one day each week. Apart from this requirement, may telecommute and work remotely from home up to four days a week. Note it is currently permissible, however (due to various regulations and policies), to telecommute and work remotely from home in the following five states: Massachusetts; Rhode Island; New Hampshire; Connecticut; or Vermont. People filling these roles must therefore live in one of those five states. This is because, again, must work at least one day per week from within and as required to be at Arrowstreet’s Boston office (address given above), with remote work from a state specified allowable the remainder of the time.
These positions are situated within the ASC IT department ecosystem. They report to the firm’s Director of Platform Engineering. They centrally aim to support the vital corporate mission to continually build future technology stacks for ASC software development teams to keep leveraging in turn in performance of their own job duties. Platform technologies, built by the team and these roles, they involve the use of tools and technologies that include C#, Python, TypeScript, JavaScript and React. Technologies built support all firm investment processes, from portfolio construction to trading and trading analytics, and to middle- and back-office functions.
These are permanent, immediately available, job opportunities that do not require any travel to client or to customer sites. Will work as senior-level software developers, within a broader ASC software development team, on building new technology frameworks that allow users to access data and existing systems across all Arrowstreet investment processes. Using Agile and Scrum software development methods, people in the roles will be responsible for collaborating with the ASC software development team on designing and implementing platforms and frameworks that support broader firm-wide, software development initiatives. Focus areas include building a new common user-interface (“UI”) framework for micro front-end hosting and development. Roles will also be dedicated to building new cloud infrastructure for designing and developing platform micro-services supporting modern responsive web UIs. They will apply understanding of software design patterns in performing software development functions. Scope of these roles will also touch on DevOps work. They will build CI/CD pipelines. Such people, in addition, will be responsible for using software development techniques, to focus on designing and developing specialized message and event-based architectures. Main application of the roles, ultimately, to conclude and summarize, they focus on designing new software solutions which take complex investment ideas and bring them to life in direct collaboration with other software development personnel and teams of Arrowstreet.
Full-time positions requiring a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in computer science or a related technological discipline (to include computer applications, information technology, information science, information security or assurance, information management, computational management, or management or computer information systems); or in engineering (to include and span computer, software, electronics, electrical, mechanical, or communication engineering, or engineering management); or in another acceptable and related quantitative field. Also required (alongside a Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent) are five years of the following, progressive, post-baccalaureate experience: (a) performing web application design and development, to specifically include the use of both TypeScript and JavaScript; (b) leveraging Gitlab and building CI/CD pipelines; (c) using the Agile and Scrum software development methods; (d) developing software in either C# or Python; (e) performing cloud-based software development in particular, specifically using the React tool, and leveraging cloud native services and databases; and (f) designing and developing specialized message and event-based architectures.
May alternatively qualify with a Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in computer science or a related technological discipline (to include computer applications, information technology, information science, information security or assurance, information management, computational management, or management or computer information systems); or in engineering (to include and span computer, software, electronics, electrical, mechanical, or communication engineering, or engineering management); or in another acceptable and related quantitative field. Where Master’s-qualified, one must also show three years of the following experience: (a) performing web application design and development, to specifically include the use of both TypeScript and JavaScript; (b) leveraging Gitlab and building CI/CD pipelines; (c) using the Agile and Scrum software development methods; (d) developing software in either C# or Python; (e) performing cloud-based software development in particular, specifically using the React tool, and leveraging cloud native services and databases; and (f) designing and developing specialized message and event-based architectures.
