Lutron Electronics Co. Inc., has an immediate opening for an Engineering Model Shop Supervisor based in Pennsylvania at our World Headquarters. In this key position, you will be leading a team dedicated to producing intricate engineering prototypes and innovative tooling essential for manufacturing. You will use your technical expertise to supervise machining and fabrication techniques to support on-time delivery of engineering models and tooling requests from the internal customer base, while facilitating the workflow process to ensure that prototypes and tooling produced meet the expected specifications and exhibit a world-class level of quality. A focus on customer service, continuous improvement and technology growth is desired for this position. The ideal candidate will support this with a sense of curiosity and an ever-growing drive to do things faster, better, and more cost effectively.
Responsibilities
- Provide world-class customer service to Lutron Engineering and Manufacturing in a vital role that supports new product development, manufacturing, and innovation
- Provide leadership for Lutron's internal machine shop service
- Analyze submitted work requests and estimate lead times to support job planning
- Facilitate on-time delivery by developing and supervising machining and fabrication
- Ensure a high level of quality and conformity to tolerance on internally and externally produced parts and tools
- Provide internal consulting for tool design, fabrication, and design for manufacturing
- Investigate and implement new strategies for raw material, tooling, and machinery utilization
- Mentor and develop direct reports
- Coordinate and facilitate Lutron's internal apprenticeship program
- Identify and implement improvements for capability, capacity, and cost savings
- Manage the Model Shop safety program
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field OR Journeyman Machinist
- 5 or more years of industry experience in the machine trade or prototype manufacturing including knowledge of CNC machining centers
- Experience with CAD/CAM software
- Experience with HAAS and Trak machining centers is a plus
