Duties:

Responsible for diagnosing, treating, and helping to prevent commonly occurring diseases and injuries. Will prescribe and administer treatments, therapies, medications, and vaccinations. Will order and interpret tests and analyze records, reports, and examine information to diagnose the patient’s condition. Will collect, record, and maintain patient information, such as medical history, reports, and examination results. Will monitor each patient’s' conditions and progress, re-evaluate treatments as necessary, and explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with each patient. Will advise patients and community members concerning diet, nutrition, activity, hygiene, and disease prevention. Will refer patients to medical specialists when needed for further diagnosis or treatment. Will coordinate care plans with nurses, social workers, rehabilitation therapists, pharmacists, psychologists, and other health care providers, as required. Will supervise one Registered Nurse (RN).

Requirements:               

Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree or D.O. degree or foreign equivalent from an accredited School of Medicine plus completion of an accredited three-year Residency program in Family Medicine. Specific skills/other requirements – Demonstrated Expertise (quantitative experience requirements not applicable to this section): Demonstrated expertise in providing primary care and diagnostic services in a clinical setting; (DE) in providing appropriate medications, treatments, and health regimens to treat patient health issues; (DE) collaborating with physician specialists to diagnose patient health conditions and recommend treatment; (DE) collaborating with a team of healthcare professionals to ensure a positive and effective patient experience; and Massachusetts Medical License or eligibility for a license.
