Job Details:
SHB USA Inc seeks NA Engineering Director in Southfield, MI to manage North American engineering projects and support global engineering projects with our China team. Interface with our customer motor engineering experts, addressing performance and application issues. Work closely between our customers and our home Engineering Team based in China to design and develop DC motors from concept through launch in North America. Create specifications, drawings, control documents, verification and validation plans, test procedures, reports, and other documentation in support of design and development activities. Coordinate with quality and production staff to perform Root Cause and Corrective Action analysis to resolve issues. Ensure conformance of products with engineering design and performance specifications. Conduct research that tests and analyzes the design and performance of products, manufacturing processes, and test equipment. Initiate problem solving for new product designs as well as existing products. Participate in design integration with customer requirements and industry standards. Perform the component, process, and sustaining engineering function on assigned projects and assure ISO9002/AS9100 compliance. Maintain weekly progress reporting in the form of Open Issue Sheets, collaborating between our home team and our customers. Position will be responsible for supervising 1-3 subordinates. Domestic and international travel is required up to 30% of the time. Working from home is permitted 1-2 days a week.
Bachelor’s degree or a foreign equivalent degree in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related field and five (5) years of experience in automotive engineering or similar occupation. Will accept 3- or 4-year degree. Experience must include: designing test setups for mechatronic devices (motors and actuators); CATIA; finding root cause of problems; two (2) years of experience in testing of electrical performance of actuators and motors; and two (2) years of experience in electromagnetic compatibility requirements.
